I loved Crazy Taxi so I'm excited to see what this one is all about and if it can live up to the hype.

That “Ya ya ya ya ya” hit me so hard and took me back 25 years in an instant.

Sad to see that they are using AI though. Probably not so bad if it is used only for mundane development tasks rather than creative ones, but it's going to be more common unfortunately.

I really hope it turns out good. The Dreamcast game was one of my favorites back in the day.

Same. And if enough people feel the same way we do and they decide not to buy the game, Sega will go, "Welp, I guess this means people didn't want a new Crazy Taxi after all. Let's never make another one!" And I'll go, "No, you dumbasses! We wanted a new Crazy Taxi. But not like this, man. Not like this.

The OGs on the Dreamcast are still good, at least. Sad

Basically, especially since they're now doing a different explanation today that makes even less sense. These guys are just trying to move the window and it's slimy as hell

"Hey gamers, Sega here. We didn't need AI to make the first Crazy Taxi 27 years ago, but we're going to use it now. We are openly telling you to pay more for games that we put less work into. This is the future!"

If Generative AI existed like it did today they would absolutely gotten in on the ground floor.

AI or not it looks good. If this is what AI is capable of now then damn, bring it on I guess. Revive all the dead franchises if AI is what gives them to us. How about Evolution next.

"Also, our game clearly just plays less interesting and was just a quick cash grab banking nostalgia! We have "All I Want" playing! That's enough, right?"

Yeah even if we were to forget the AI stuff and their embarrassing degree of flip-flopping and half statements over the last couple days, the game just looks bad. They took the crazy out of Crazy Taxi

This was one of the highlights of the showcase for me. I screamed when the trailer started. Really glad to see a new Crazy Taxi after all these years.

In Japan now, over 60% of Japanese firms with more than 1,000 workers use generative AI. They don't have the same hang-ups regarding AI over there - Japan’s AI optimism translates into AI-friendly policies

I read a post recently on X from someone who admitted they've been so conditioned by anti-AI rhetoric that they can no longer enjoy Osamu Tezuka's works like Astro Boy or the more recent Pluto because every time they read about how AI can co-exist with humans and make art, music, and dream it makes them angry and I just find that kind of sad. I guess it's no surprise Japan who grew up with such positive and healthy messaging would be more open minded than people who get all their views from angry influencers telling them to be angry for clicks and money.

So people should be ok with corporations firing much of their human workforce to then invest in AI, Companies building data centers to power AI in populated areas and using up and tainting people’s drinking water sometimes without paying for said water. People who call themselves translators using AI to translate foreign works like Manga or Anime which amount to a hack job?

Also for all the positive portrayals Japan may have had of machines and AI pretty sure they’ve also had the stereotypical works where machines hunt and kill humans or are used to do the job of a human.

Gundam Wing entertained this with mobile dolls.
