The cover picture makes it look like a lot of dumb fun.

Hopefully they'll come out with a trailer with English subs soon. If I see one, I'll swap them out. Just from the summary and what I can tell from the trailer, it doesn't like this anime is poised to fill the void left by Dan Da Dan. More like it's poised to fill the void left by Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra. Still, a void is a void even if it's the size of a bowling ball instead of a meteor crater. Could be quirkily fun.

The weird mix of talking while not at all being perturbed by the strange happenings being displayed (Blood will go wild over the snake titties most likely) and going on random tangents during said talks reminds me a lot of Dekin no Mogura. The supernatural feels mundane due to the characters not at all being shocked by it and basically anything can happen yet it will just be another thursday. Just like with Mogura things can get serious though as Dara-san suffered a brutal end. |

I really enjoyed the first episode! I loved how the siblings show no fear of Dara, yet their grandfather is horrified by the idea that she might be loose after the landslide destroys the fence and shrine. I also really liked that the siblings don’t conform to gender norms. I think that the show will be a lot of fun.

The animation's not great and I'm not clear where the story is going, but the first episode certainly had fun with the premise, and I enjoyed it. I like urban fantasy, and I like comedy horror, and I liked the dynamic between the kids and the...umm...what did they land on her being again? Anyway, I liked the dynamic between the kids and Dara-san.

The first episode is very uneventful and gives no clues that anything bigger is coming. The intro sequence and cover art suggest the snake woman is going to wear a bunch of different outfits though, and hopefully get up to hijinx that necessitate wearing them, so maybe it'll get more interesting.
Her boobs are neither upsetting or titillating to me. She's not really that different from how Medusa has often been depicted. Other than being better at multitasking maybe. She's pretty handy at using her phone while eating lunch. |

I'm glad I watched one episode, as its an amusing high-concept reasonably well executed. But I feel like the one episode contained much of the interest I'm going to get. It juggles the tones well but I feel like the comic side is clearly what comes first and that interests me much less here (I did not laugh).
I have no prurient interest in snake-lady, and the comedic repartee isn't enough for me to watch it as a slice of life comedy. I wish it well but its probably not a pick up for me. |

I dug the first episode, but if that is the template for the entire show, I don't think I'll be around to the end. The ED suggests there's actually going to be a fair sized cast, so I suspect each episode isn't just going to be the three kibitzing all the time. Enjoyed it enough to see where it's going. Got a good chuckle out of Dara's revelation that she used up a lot of data from the dropped cell phone.
And no, I did not go wild over the "snake titties"... her nipples looked weird. Plus, I don't care how great a rack is, if it's on a snake body, I'm out. |

I have found that I had a bit of a history of being too into the kind of shows that mix kids with a lot the classic Japanese mythology, mostly kind of grown tired of the sort of stuff that feels like low appeal to Japanese legends to kids, the sort of shounen and shoujo stuff. So I started watching the episode that I could easily just drop it. But I kind of ended up very surprised.
I really like the design of the snake lady. Maybe an exaggeration, but feels refreshing when anime usually refuses to make monster girls a bit scary, and I like that there is a bit of a menace to her design. Kind of like how one of my favourite designs in Interspecies Reviewers was the Harpy (Mimiro), who was a little uncanny. Hey Blood, maybe they look weird to you, but I actually appreciated it. I liked that it wasn't the stock standard, being puffy and inverted, and I liked that it didn't really bring attention to them, with her clearly not being bothered by being seen, which is so much than if she was bashful or something. And lastly, I like that both the kids are gender non-conforming. I think that is neat. |

This was OK, the banter was entertaining enough as a low-key comedy which works fine for me. Dara-san is pretty down-to-earth and having lived hundreds of years probably we are going to get more amusing anecdotes from the past. One problem with some supernatural shows is that the gods etc. tend to be wise and kind which is a bit boring, but that doesn't seem to be a problem here. This is probably going to need the additional character roster, as although the two children are OK, at this point they seem to be more like plot devices than characters.
The snake tits seemed to be just a part of her monstrous character design, with not so much ulterior motives to it. The design is just fine. The season's offerings so far seem a bit weak (excluding the S2 of several big bangers coming up). This one seems to be one of the betters this far... |
