So I found a more awkward weird romance than Hami-Kun, I thought nothing could top that. I guess I was wrong, instead of a girl pretending to be a boy, let's make them step siblings.
I mean I guess a better comparison is a gender reverse of The Shiunji Family Children, but at least that show is self aware of what it is doing is wrong, I am not sure about this one, and what it wants to be. |

Is it really a romance? Oh brother. I hoped they were just clueless about how a loving, but non-romantic relationship with a girl their age might work. Guess I'm the clueless one.

I don't know, I guess we will find out. But yeah the chemistry between the main character and the oldest brother is like the two leads in Hami-Kun, but that is just my opinion. I am going to this series blind, if I want a wholesome series about step siblings, I know My Stepmother and Stepsisters Are Not Wicked give me that, I have read up to chapter 42, I know there is no romance in that series. |

It doesn't seem terrible but it did not hook me either. I have become rather critical of romance anime (in part due to there being so many) and this seems like an easy enough drop in a busy season. |

I'm pretty lukewarm about the first episode as well. If I understand that ending correctly, the parents are going to do that anime thing where they move and leave the children to fend for themselves, and I'm not really invested in watching the leads struggle over who's going to be the primary caregiver.

In terms of girl getting a bunch of step-siblings, I am reminded of Brother's Conflict, which is not a great comparison. In that way I think the romance element would only weaken this. Can we not step-sibling anime without it turning into a romance? Really, Japan?
If it does go the romance route, I think that I really should drop it. But it didn't feel like a bad start, yet. |
