Yay it's finally out of Amazon jail! Maybe this means someone can release it on home video or dub it?

Very strange of this article to bring up the Amazon AI dubbing beta but not mention the fact that this series is finally receiving a legitimate human dub on Netflix:
Quote:
Relive Ash and Eiji's story in BANANA FISH. Coming to Netflix in select regions (🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧🇮🇪🇫🇷) on August 12, with exclusive English and French dubs!

Dub voice cast:
• Ash Lynx: Brandon McInnis (English), Sébastien Baulain (French)
• Eiji Okumura: Jonathan Tanigaki (English), Grégory Laisné (French)

Banana Fish is one of the Amazon streaming titles that I wish Sentai had licensed and released on BD.

Just changed the 'jail' in that sense.

Only Sentai/hidive would give it home video nowadays.

Unfortunately, Banana Fish's production was headed up by Aniplex, so it'll likely remain in a third "jail" ("Aniplex Jail") when it comes to home video, i.e. no home video release at all outside of Japan or it'll be absurdly & prohibitively expensive.

There is the off chance that maybe Viz or Anime Limited might be able to put it out (as seen with 86 & Devilman Crybaby), since they seem to be the only companies Aniplex is willing to license out to now, but I wouldn't necessarily hold out hope on that happening.

Is this the first time an Amazon exclusive has become a Netflix exclusive?

Say what you will about Netflix; at least they’re giving Banana Fish an English dub with actual humans doing the voices.

Sometimes we write articles, and then post them for a future time, instead of posting them right away.

At the time we wrote the article and set it to post, no English/French dub had been confirmed, just the news of the anime coming to Netflix. By the time the article actually posted, a dub had been confirmed and the cast announced. As soon as we realized, we updated the article.

At this point Amazon is basically a joke within apps due to poor marketing and poor dubs
