I have a question regarding adult oriented anime sites. I've come across a lot of ads for "pay" sites, that have full length hentai dvd's and or movies on them. My question is, how do they have the right to put these on there sites, and use them to make money, by charging people to view them? Is'nt this against the law, and in violation of the video's copyrights? Or, maybe they in some way get permission, or purchase the rights to use them? Either way, i'm very interested in how this works... My guess is that they just use them despite the fact that it is illegal... Thanks for any responses

I don't really know about that, but what I can tell you is that my fiance used to do advertising for porn sites. If someone signes up on a site through him, then he gets commission.

Sometime he would advertise that a site contained kiddy porn, even though it didn't. This way when people signed up for it, he got paid, took the money of a sicko, and the sicko can't complain, because he was trying to access illegal materials in the first place.

Now, that's not quite the same thing, but what it tells me is not to believe what ads say.

I know Anime on Dvd does reviews on such work. I figure you look up some of those titles, do a google search, and then follow a few hyperlinks to find what you seeking.

All the best,

but my question was, is it legal to put up hentai videos on the net and charge people to view them? It seems that this would be highly ILLEGAL, but yet they still do it. I know atleast a few of these sites actually have videos online. So how do they get away with actually doing it?

Honestly I think they get away with it because it's small potatoes in the bigger scheme of things. The fact is, the costs incurred in hiring lawyers often is more expensive then the money they will reap in from the people stealing from them. If legal services weren't so costly, I think this wouldn't happen so much. In the end, that's the cause of why they get away with it. Now there have been C&D letters sent to some larger sites, and that will usually take care of the problem. I suspect that when it starts getting to that point, there usually will be legal action taken at that point if it doesn't stop.

It's like the Comic Book Companies, like DC and Marvel.

In seriousness, are you gonna go after every artist that make a pin-up of Wonder Woman or Storm? Or are you gonna risk loosing a potential future hot artist if you give them a C&D?

Well, that's not really the same at all. At least the artist is actually "creating" something. It would be more like somebody creating exact and unlimited copies of the comic book and selling it off as their own and keeping all the money.

It is illegal, unless they are paying the company who made them, which they most likely arn't. It's just that nobody's really looking for them or cares. The fact that they are making people PAY for them is weird... It's easy enough to get them for free and still be just as illegal...

Are these well known titles or could they possibly be fan made?
