The Evangelion 1.11 commercial is restricted to Japanese IP addresses only. North American viewers only get a "Sorry, you cannot access the contents" message.

It looks like that first link has an errant space in it. It should be mms://free-wms.b-ch.com/official/eva-movie/eva_movie_jo_dvd_0527onsale_1000k.wmv.

The phone looks cool, wish it was made internationally. As for the evangelion 1.xx, i'll wait til it's ALL the movies released thogether to buy it.

In regards to Eva 1.11, can anyone say "robbing ba*tards?" Rolling Eyes
Not going to hold the DVD release of the second film in good stead when you know something like this could happen...

The article is a bit inaccurate. Funimation is NOT releasing the 1.11 film, they have the rights to the original DVD release of 1.01

You make it sound like they'll be releasing the 1.11 remastered version and no one has said anything about that. (I sure hope they do, but I'm not holding my breath).

I think the numbering is rather simple

1.0 was the Theatrical version, 1.01 was the original DVD release, and 1.11 is ths special edition. You see releases like this in the US all the time, they just don't have the stupid numbering thing.

The original master was only done a year or so ago, so quite clearly the lacking quality of the original master was solely to make people have a reason to purchase the film again. It's a bit pathetic really, by any standard : /

I don't know if it'll be the case, but I for one hope Funimation will release the latest version

They might not own the license to it since Japan announced this version 2 weeks after they licensed it

I love that track they use, "Decisive Battle", which sounds like John Barry's "007" for the Bond movies.

I certainly hope that FUNi has 1.11 as it would make little sense to release 1.01 in the US now.

Yeah, re-mastered already? It's ridiculous.

I quite like the numbering gimmick. It's better than COLLECTORS ULTIMATE DIRECTORS CUT EXTENDED UNRATED VERSION EDITION and soon which is appended to the latest DVD release of any other film.

I'm far more interested in what was wrong with the previous master. It can't be a resolution issue, as it got a cinema release. The only things I can think of is
1) something went horrible wrong with the last master (over schedule? Massive but somehow unnoticed continuity gaffe?) and couldn't be corrected before screening, and for some reason this was such a huge problem that it couldn't be fixed prior to the initial DVD release either
or, more likely
2) they're playing fast and loose with the phrase 'new master', and instead mean that the usual process of tweaking that is applied to DVD releases was for some reason skipped for the first release.

Jeez, I hope that Funimation does release this. I would love an Evangelion BD. It looks amazing as is, and a BD would be orgasmic.
