I am so psyched for this! Miyazaki + Diana Wynne Jones = WORK. OF. ART.
This may very well be the last Miyazaki movie! Heck, he was talking about retiring after Spirited Away! |

I've just read the book recently, and it is pretty good. I understand there are going to be differences between the book and the movie, and I am also greatly anticipating this film as well. Also, I have learned not to consider any film Miyazaki's last untill he's dead
 . Princess Mononoke was supposed to be his last film, too(and, on a side note, I still think it was his best). So was Spirited Away.

If Kondo had not died, I think Miyazaki would have handed over to him by now  He could have honed the Ghibli sense of wonder and magic he brought to Whisper of the Heart.

I know. Whisper of the Heart is not only far better than Miyazaki's and Takahata's respective debut films, but it's also my favorite Ghibli movie period. But now whenever I see that movie I get depressed just thinking about what he could have done if he had lived longer.
Personally, I though Spirited Away was Miyazaki's worst (the plot was way too episodic), and I'm worried about what will happen to Ghibli when he finally retires. |
