The only things that peak my interest with this release is DB season 4 and DB Kai, which I didn't expect to see so soon. I might ask for DB Kai for my birthday.

You should change the title to May. Anime smile + sweatdrop

And there's one more:

Xenosaga DVD Complete Set (Hyb) - Viridian Collection-$29.98- 5/11/10

------

I will most likely pick up FMA:B, DBZ: Kai, and probably even the D-Box 3. I'll pick up One Piece down the line- still need to buy Season 2 Parts 2-6....

I'm still debating on which one to get due to the screen resolution that they're both released in (assuming FUNi has both masters).

Ha! Good catch. I guess that's why you usually do this.

Question.... what defines the "S.A.V.E" edition? I know Kanon has one. I much enjoy the 2 case thin pack of the original, so what is this one? One normal sized case with several disks?

Well, FMA: Brotherhood is already on my list, but it looks like I may eventually be picking up the boxset version of Xenosaga.

And not surprised that the other Tsubasa sets and xxxHolic are coming out on Blu-Ray, now that Season 1 is available that way. -coughpickuptherestFunicough-

What does it stand for?
•S.A.V.E. = Super Amazing Value Edition

What is it?
•These are a new line of FUNimation releases (not necessarily boxsets) with a new, lower MSRP.
•Some of these releases are new SKUs while others are just reprices.
•It is a different line from the Viridian Collection releases.
•Not all brands and repriced releases will a S.A.V.E. release.

What about the packaging?
•If it’s a new packaging, there’s going to be a S.A.V.E. green bar on the side. Existing stock will have a S.A.V.E. sticker.
•They will be very recognizable. Think like the used textbooks sticker, but only green.
•Example of a new packaging: Kanon (S.A.V.E.) with the S.A.V.E. green bar on the side (See cover art).
•Example of a reprice: Moonphase (S.A.V.E.) is the same as Moonphase: Complete Collection (Viridian) with the addition of a sticker on the wrap and a new lower MSRP.
•Whether or not it’s a sticker or wrap redesign will ultimately be determined by FUNimation's inventory.

What does the small texts on the S.A.V.E. green bar say?
•"Want to Add to Your Collection Without Breaking the Bank? Bring Home a Bargain with the Super Amazing Value Edition!"

What about the on-disc contents?
•Each S.A.V.E. release will have the same DVDs as the previous release, so no changes on the disc content.

When are the releases going to be release?
•The releases will start to show up in March starting with Moonphase: Complete Collection (Viridian).

If you go to the linked thread above the quote, there's a list of what may also be released as S.A.V.E. editions.

I must echo existing puzzlement regarding the prominence of the green bar. Attracting the attention of those browsing shelves is understandable, but would it be incorrect to assume this is an attempt to make the existing (and more expensive) items more attractive, in virtue of their lack of 'spoilage' on the boxart?
Based upon the sample image, more space is occupied by the green bar on the Kanon cover than by the red bar on the old Geneon Signature Series releases.

As dragonpiece on AoD noticed, the Vandread OVAs are sub-only.

And so it begins.....

Hold your horses there, partner. I reacted the same way you did this morning when I wrote that up, but only four about 2 seconds. These OVA's are nothing more than recaps to fulfill the needs of completionist and outsourcing these to BangZoom just so that the cast is the same would be dumb. So it was either pay money just to have recaps dubbed for continuity, do it in-house so it'd be cheap, but would garner fanrage out the anus for not having continuity or just put them on there sub-only.

Pesonally, as a diehard dub fan, I have no problem with their choice.

Maybe so, but I'm seeing it this way: first they say that they'll never do a sub-only. Then they say that they might consider doing a sub-only release in the future, but for now they will stick to doing dubs. Then they do a sub-only release. They also didn't dub the Late Show extras on Soul Eater, either. So, I'm just seeing that they will consider not dubbing certain things, which is a change from their previous position.
