Sometimes when I watch anime, it seems that the screen scrolls up black for a moment when changing scenes. I'm not quite sure what this is, but does anyone else see it? I remember it particularly on Funimation's FullMetal Alchemist (original series) DVDs. Is this the infamous 'Evangelion Jitter' that I've heard so much about?

The problem with the original Evangelion DVDs was due to the transfer from film - it can't apply to FMA since it was a digital production.

I apologize for being a month late with the response, but I found out today what it is that I'm seeing. I have an Autism Spectrum disorder, and my therapist explained to me that I'm seeing the flicker from the off refresh rate of a specific television. That explains why I really only ever see it on that one TV, and I was incorrectly associating it with anime - simply because its the majority of what I watch.

Sounds more like a hardware problem with your monitor or player.

You're absolutely right; that specific TV is slowly going bad. The flicker caused by that, which most people would probably just dismiss, is really noticeable to me due to the autism spectrum disorder. Since it was so pronounced, I actually assumed it had to do with the animation. I am sorry.
