Theres no ANN contest this year, but that doesn't mean pumpkins don't get carved.
This year, I think that my design ended up a bit messy. The original plan was to touch it up a lot more whenever ANN announced a pumpkin carving contest (if they did), but they didn't, so it never really got touched up. I think it suffers pretty significantly from being unrecognizable without knowing what it is. So, I'm posting the reference picture first. http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=12259693
Anyone else carve (or is carving) something interesting this year? |

In all my years here, I don't think there ever was one. Well I'm not really involved so....idk
Cool idea for a thread tho. At least its new. Keyword. NEW. So many redundant threads. Apparently the ANN community isn't creative anymore. Should post that on deviantart.com because thts really cool man or girl. No thts really good/cool. People might actually buy that. |

They've done one every year since 2005 (except this year). The grand prize is usually rather large (Usually about 8-sh box sets + random misc dvds). |

Your pumpkin looks really neat; I don't think it look messy. How much time did it toke you to carve it? Too bad there no contest this year, but Zac said the contest will return next year.

Is a pair of Pumpkin Scissors required to do the job?

It took ~3 hours of actual carving. Which is pretty normal for me. I usually spend more time deciding on a picture / planning out the pumpkin. Looking at the EXIF Data, I started carving at 5pm, and the first pictures of it carved were at 9:30pm (but cooking and eating dinner was in between there). Tools used (also a steak knife to take the top off) First half of pattern on pumpkin Second half of pattern on pumpkin
No, but I did have a copy on hand from last year's contest. ~.^ |

I didn't do one this year, but two years ago, this was a bit of a hit! (I tinted the image green. I can't remember why.)
(Hmm. Having trouble getting the image to post.) |

I hope that the no contest was not due to some of the uglyness that poped up last year. It was traditionaly a very high quality contest and I hope that it will be back. I did mostly video game pumpkins this year. my favorite that I did was Angry birds themed:

My pumpkin this year was a disappointment... mostly because I had troubles finding a large pumpkin so couldn't get as detailed as I would have liked. Here is this years Pumpkin. In case you can't tell (which I'm sure you can't) it's Utena.
And this is the pumpkin that I did a couple years ago that I liked much better. It's Setsuna from Angel Sanctuary

First time carving a pumpkin like this. Not the best, but I'm kind of happy at how it turned out
