I suspected before, but this makes it abundantly clear Will's roommate is just one of Elfaria's clones in disguise. Not that the show's done any more with 'him' than it has her or any supporting cast member who isn't a generic bully.
I liked the prequel novel enough to give the show this extra arc, but I just feel like it shot itself in the foot at every turn. This should have been a really satisfying episode where Will finally owned one of these not-so-nice-people, but instead Will's own personality and actions constantly undermined the action, and I was just annoyed with him. Guess I'm gonna have to admit there's no way Omori's gonna win me over and cut my losses.

If it matters at all, the next arc is where the main plot of the series really begins.

This was an incredibly satisfying episode; seeing Julius eat shit is just so, so good. It's great seeing more of Elfaria and how she's a sleepyhead goof. She gets more screentime and actions later, though I'm not sure if the anime will reach the manga segments that show how much she's been actively supporting Will even now.

Imagine thinking you're so amazing at using a spell of a famous Magia Vander only to end up finding out that you only only were able to use a spell a toddler had come up with and that she was more proficient with.
And just to confirm that Will is totally an ice magic slayer, he exposes said Magia Vander for using her spell to be all over him with her 10 clones.
Lightning Queen saying Will's name like she's totally going to join his Harem. Is she the Ryu?
That Oner with the OP was pure hype.
I like how Will realized he could've won the whole thing and then Wignall shows up to say "nope!"
I finally have a feel for Elfie as a Heroine though I'm still rooting for Colette.
Rosty is totally an Elfaria clone she's using to watch over Will. "He" had the exact same reactions to the events that Elfaria did, right down to shutting down after Will had exposed her.

Will Serfort is such a twink. It’s so obvious Rosty is the dominant one in their relationship. Poor Colette needs to move on to greener pasture.

I haven't read the manga, no. I just thought Rosty and Elfaria reacting exactly the same way within a minute was meant to be a dead giveaway.
Then again, I *did* read the prequel novel, so it's possible I started suspecting things because I found it hard to believe Elfaria could actually go six years without any contact with Will. The roommate not mentioned in the prequel novel at all did seem like the obvious candidate.

I am up to date with the manga, and i had not heard of that theory of Rusty being a Elfaria clone before now. So i can say it has yet to be proven in the manga
i have not comment on the anime really because the Anime is not gonna cover for the really great part of Wistoria, where it decide to take a 90 degree turn on Shonen cliches or at least these types of Shonen.

God, this episode was absolutely hysterical. Poor Colette put in so much effort and had such high hopes - and looked great too! - but she stood absolutely no chance before Rosti and that lavishly animated intimate handholding. I cracked up at the montage of Rosti stealing all of Colette's doki doki date moments. The subversion of the classic Infinite Stratos setup is fantastic too.

Rosty’s real identity has not been addressed in the manga yet. Even on the official anime website his seiyuu is listed as “???” because they don’t want to give it away.
Rosty being a clone of Elfaria is a big fan theory that’s been around since the manga began. I’ve seen it discussed on Reddit and MAL several times.

I've also been suspicious of Rosty since I noticed the "????" seiyuu credit, but I'm terrible at recognizing female seiyuu voices unless they're really distinctive. Can someone tell if he sounds anything like Akira Sekine, who voices Elfaria?

I love how they even had Julius' goons helping out to make things up with the dwarves.
Will is now in his popular phase.
Poor Colette got so excited for a date with Will, right down to wearing the perfect outfit, only to get turned into the third wheel of her own date by Will's roommate. I see Rosty is as big a dick as their literal dick, if you go by Will's statements. Mind sharing with the class, Elfie? Especially when Rosty's name is (Fr)Rosty (the) (S)Nowman.
I thought Elfie was the Ais type figure in the story (and I guess she still is) but Lihanna feels more like Ais personality-wise. Will she join Will's budding Harem? We've already got Colette and Rosty going at each other like Hestia and Lili.
I want to know more about Lihanna's family background?
I'm curious about Wignall. He seems like a pretty chill, practical, guy but I wonder how he really feels about things.
With five of the most powerful students (and Colette who is no slouch) I guess we need proper antagonists. Is that an AU version of Bete from Danmachi?

well yes and no! here is what i can figure after watching the anime and reading the source materials if we are going by danmachi's standards
will = bell
elfie = hestia
rosty = syr
colette = lili
miss perfect = ais
sion = bete
julius = vanner freiya
as for the ryu type, that would be the watcher who is pretending to be will's junior!

Regarding the opening paragraph of the latest review; the pacing so far has been pretty identical to the manga. Even a 99s adaptation wouldn’t have felt too different unless they intentionally added “filler” after the last arc.

*Fujino Omori
I like how Wignall's a foil to Will. But in Wignall's case he leans on the magical superiority of his race as a crutch, giving him a fresh edition of the inferiority-superiority complexes here. I'm looking forward to seeing where he goes.
Meanwhile Lihanna (probably) respects Will and sees the value in him. Her CQC lightning magic looks great.
