Hey Everyone,

This past summer I was in Japan and I picked up some Full Metal Alchemist manga (as well as some others, of course) I can read hiragana, katakana, and I know a great deal kanji. But as some you probably know, sometimes you just don't know a word or phrase. So I've been looking for a place I can find translations of FMA, but I haven't been able to.

Anyone know a good site?

BTW, i dont mean scanlations. Just words, thanks.

You're probably out of luck here...

10) Users may not request or link to bootlegs, fansubs, scanilations, active fan-translating groups, peer-to-peer networks, timed scripts, MP3s, unauthorized movie clips, or websites that house these groups or products.

While they probably could add "unauthorized translations" to the list (and why active? Even if they are inactive, it's still a problem), this still probably qualifies as one of those things that you can't link to. After all, an unauthorized translation is still a violation of the Berne Convention.

Provided that it's JUST TEXT and contains no description of what's going on, we've allowed links to Inu-Yasha translations.

At least, historically, anyway.

The few times that I have ever tried to read manga with sheets upon sheets of text only translations have been painful. Last time i can remember doing that was with Alice 19th last year. one of my buddies had lent me a couple volumes (in japanese if I remember correctly) with text only translations. I got tired of it and did homework as I found that would be more enjoyable.

Anyway, the point being unless you want to go through the tedium of looking back and forth between the manga and the translations you might as well wait till they translate it for domestic release.

Its a pain to read it that way, but it is the only way for some series. The only one I read like that was Ohikkoshi, and that was because I liked it so much.

Yes I know this, and if you like a series well enough, I say go for it, but in this instance I believe if im not mistaken that FMA has already been snagged by some translation Co. and should be heading over here eventualy.

and that might be a run on sentence....

Well, keep in mind I'm not doing this for full translations. I already understand alot of what I'm reading. I also use this as a way to learn more and more japanese. I've read the first 13 volumes of One Piece, mostly by reading a chapter, then reading this guys Translations (great job, whoever he is) and checking with what I originally thought.

Im basically aiming to do the same here with FMA.

As for buying the book if it ever comes out in english, thats sort of a really big waste of money. Im better off just guessing on those things that I don't understand.

But thanks anyways. I hope i didn't break any rules by posting that topic. Sorry!

Nope, not yet, just the anime for now. You'd think that someone would have licensed it by now seeing as how Square-Enix is pushing the anime, games, and merchandise over here in the coming months.

Well a group in singapore licensed it and they're also doing an english translation for it so if you don't mind importing it, you can always follow this post:
