Up to this point the series is still great because it's mostly following the original story as laid out in the manga. Later though the anime takes a turn for the 100% original and it's not exactly for the best.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend the manga. The art is amazing and the story gets even better.

This was probably my favorite arc of the anime/manga series so far although I do admit that the manga executed it better. The Rin vs. Amaimon fight was the highlight of this volume and I enjoyed it even more than their first encounter (:
Can't wait for the movie this year and maybe a season 2 in the near future? Hmm...

I swear the birthday episode was the last one I really liked, ok there was one more afer that, but the eps afterwards are ones I could do without.
Still this is a fun series even with its genericy, it makes it work. I'm curious about what they would do for the movie though. If we're lucky its popularity will last out long enough so this can get the hunter x hunter treatment (I think its safe to replace the brotherhood treatment how eh? no, it isn't? Oh well Cheapshot at promotion FTW!)
Yay Izumo!
