Yeah, I ain't a fan of his character designs either. Wish they stayed with the source material's artstyle.

I don't know what's more disconcerting: Hisashi Hirai's design recycling, the ever-widening of his characters' faces, or the lapses in consistency and quality control in staying on-model with them? I have liked Hirai's designs before, but since Linebarrels, it feels like his work has gone downhill (the reaction faces aren't helping, either). However, though the plot sounds pretty neat, this and the previous trailer makes it look like a Gundam clone. I'll give the action its due, though…

Yeah it does, though right about now I have to say I'm probably actually quite up for a Gundam clone.
I very much liked all of the exterior shots in that trailer especially, the space action should look really good at least looking at this and the action and that first pv.
On the designs, yeah, but I at least like that they are going back to the old style without lines under the eyes thing so they are drawing this more like Heroic Age, Scry-ed, Infinite Ryvius, Seed etc.. Sometimes they looked fine with them, but I think I definitely prefer them without them.
