Hey guys,
I am new to these forums as well as to anime. Is the zoids Franchise dying? I was checking on HLJ and found a LOT of Zoids kits to be discontinued. I love Zoids and I don't know if there will be a new series after Zoids Genesis. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks for your time. PS: I have only watched the following anime: All three Ghost In The Shell movies, both AppleSeed movies and finished watching all the Zoids series except for Fuzors (which I don't like so I skipped)... |

I'd say it died a while ago. The last Zoids anime they made was Genesis and that was back in 2005. As hard as they tried Zoids just couldn't reach the heights that Gundam or any other success franchise did. In the end it has it's small fallowing but it's not enough to breath life into the franchise.

I would assume so, with shows like Zoids allot of the times the model kits actually become more popular than the show itself thanks to collectors and toy fans. In fact Astro Toys (a column on ANN) just reviewed a new Blade Liger model kit from Revoltech. animenewsnetwork.com/astro-toy/2010-09-05/revoltech-blade-liger

Well I guess I should be glad that Kotobukiya still makes some of the model kits for Zoids if not all... But on the HLJ website about 80% of it is discontinued... I guess it truly is dying.
I am moving onto watching Gundam from the beginning as I have never seen it before (you might be thinking that I live under a rock or something but wait till you hear this - I have NEVER seen Dragon Ball Z O.O). My local Library I think has the first three movies on DVD, not sure if its dubbed or not.[/url] |

Ah Zoids. I remember it so well. I used to be a HUGE zoids fan but sadly it didn't get the attention it deserved. Who knows, we may end up with the second or third coming of Zoids. But to answer the question I also must say Zoids has died. R.I.P Zoids!

Zoids is one of those odd obvious toy commercial franchises I really like(the others being Gundam, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh!), and I honestly think it's a shame that it was discontinued. It always seemed like a fun little twist on mech shows.

I remember being hooked onto Chaotic Century when it aired on Toonami which actually made an effort at creating a decent story and characters while at the same time promoting the Zoids robots. Anything beyond that seemed to be nothing more than an excuse to promote the Zoids figures.

Yeah,
Chaotic Century is the best of them all... Fuzors was a disgrace to Zoids. Everything else was OK I guess. But as long as they continue making Model kits and not just action figures, I am happy. There are a few that will be released this year so it should be interesting. Once I save up enough to get the tools I need, I can start making my first Model. I have my eye on the up coming Gun Sniper by Kotobukiya... |

It is like Transformers. It will go away, but will eventually come back. It has already done so once.

yeah, I guess genesis was good , but I utterly hate fuzors... The problem I had with Genesis was the way they animated the zoids. It was the most unrealistic movements ever. Chaotic Century had the most realistic animation and the storyline had option of continuing...

When I first got into anime, I managed to pick up a bunch of Zoids DVDs. I think they're all surprisingly good, even Fuzors (only found one DVD of that). New Century had the best dub. Chaotic Century had the best art (IIRC).
Sadly, these once popular shows are unavailable, except for very expensive 2nd hand. I'd love to see these reboxed and sold cheap. C'mon, why not? I'm sure Zoids would be much cheaper to licence than Transformers. And I would definitely buy! We need some kind of internet campaign, except that Zoids wasn't quite exceptional enough to get people motivated in that way. |
