Is anyone here familiar with Tongari Boushi no Memoru: Marielle no Housekibako? It's seeming to me like the ANN encyclopedia entry may be a conflation of a Tongari Boushi no Memoru movie and a Tongari Boushi no Memoru OVA. Basically, I've seen a video of Tongari Boushi no Memoru: Marielle no Housekibako that is 75 minutes long, not 16 minutes. I've also found sites online selling used copies of an anime by that title and listing it as being 75 minutes long. There is a fairly good picture of what looks like the packaging for it here, which I can't really read (since I can't read Japanese), but I think it says it is 75 minutes. The official site also seems to suggest that an OVA by the title マリエルの宝石箱 was included with the DVD release of the series. The Japanese Wikipedia page also lists both a movie and and an OVA for the series, and I think lists the title Tongari Boushi no Memoru: Marielle no Housekibako for the OVA, not the movie. However, lots of sites say that there is a 16 minute movie for the series, and ANN certainly isn't the only one that says the movie has the title Tongari Boushi no Memoru: Marielle no Housekibako. My thought is that ANN and several other websites I've seen have conflated the movie and the OVA, and that the title Tongari Boushi no Memoru: Marielle no Housekibako really belongs to the OVA, not the movie. I'm thinking that is the case because every site that I've seen that seems to be aware that both an OAV and movie exist gives that name to the OAV and not the movie. However, it might also be possible that both the movie and the OVA have the same name for some reason. I think this would be much easier to sort out if I could read Japanese, but I was hoping someone else here might be able to sort this out from the links I've provided.

I believe that you are correct. The movie was premiered on the said date and the OVA was sold on 1985-07-21. Give me a few hours so I can separate the two. EDIT: Done.
As far as I can find, the movie does not have a separate sub-title. Info of the movie are even more scarce than of the OVA. |
