at what part did the anime end? I know the last part of the manga was the world cup (forgot the specific name) with japan, china and korea...

the anime ends with the ova when hikaru tries to get into the china,japan,kora cup.

I believe it was the "North Star Cup" if I recall correctly. Anyway, yeah, The manga only goes slightly longer than the anime (and by that, I mean maybe 3 or 4 chapters pertaining to the North Star Cup.)
