I watched some of the first episodes of Bleach thinking it was a Fighting Manga/Anime, but was dissapointined. For one thing MOST of the enimies were not humonoid and had no known name like in most fighting series. But lately I've stumbled onto posts in message boards that makes me think this changes later on in the series. Does it?

So you don't consider it a fighting series because characters don't scream the names of moves like idiots? I'm not keen on the definition of "fighting manga" is, but later on in Bleach I've heard there is some kind of tournament like there is in every other Shonen Jump manga ever created, so I'll assume that's where you got the idea from.

Well it's not a tournament, it just alot of one on one fights.
And like Kagemusha said, how is it not a fighting manga. They've been fighting since the very first chapter. At volume 6 or 7 ish it stops being about individual arcs where they fight hollows. And it's gonna stay that way for the next 14-15 volumes.

Dude, the only thing there is in Bleach IS fighting. It never ends and probably will never end. It always confuses me how I can find 20 page threads about Bleach. What is there to talk about?!

Hollows get owned pretty easily. They're not really significant in a way...just kinda "small fries." Even Menos wasn't really a big deal Rolling Eyes

If you want fight scenes (sword vs sword), more than half of the Bleach that has been airing take place in Soul Society, where almost all of the battles are between shinigamis.

The first episodes kinda suck. I was exposed to it and saw the first episode or two and stopped watching it because I thought it was lame. Then I came back to it a couple months later and re-watched it and it got a lot better. Give it a shot. I haven't heard of anyone disliking Bleach that much yet, and there are tons of fanboys that are crazy about it. Keep in mind it's still kind of your typical Shonen Jump anime but I still like watching it for the most part.

Which technique is more powerful? Who would win in Ichigo vs. Naruto? That's not even bad; I've heard someone trying to find social theory/classism in Pokemon.
Sweet avatar by the way. Is that Angelina Jolie's kid? Laughing

Ditto.

Just push through the Hollow-fighting and you'll get to the sweet action where other characters come into play. The Hollows arc is more of an introduction to the protagonists of the story.

Bleach is mainly a fighting anime; however personally I don't particularly like it because of that solely. It's fairly light-hearted, and has a strange sort of addictive quality, which I haven't quite put my finger on yet.
