Ok here’s what I want to get discussing if i said the following;
- Hitomi - Blue pendent on necklace - Gaea - And mechs What would you be thinking, I would take bets you’re thinking of Escaflowne mainly because it was the title for this topic. However I’m not  the anime I’m talking about it Appleseed.
I watched the anime last night and was amazed at how many elements were in it that were the same as in Escaflowne. Even the main character Dunan looks like a spitting image of Hitomi and I thought the pendent was the same almost exactly. Of course I couldn’t actually find any themes or plot points that were the same in Escaflowne but these other elements really struck me as surprising. Now I know Hitomi may be a common name and the pendent thing isn’t the first time. Also mechs are used obviously in mecha anime but all these things together, I don’t know is there a resemblance? what do you guys think?

Hitomi is a fairly common girls name.
There are a ton of series with Blue Pendents on necklace. This was a major theme for the film Laputa, the TV series Nadia, and The Mars Daybreak. Gaea always reminds me of the Final Fantasy games. Mecha: There are too many shows with mecha to list here. It is interesting that there are a good number of minor points in common, but overall it reminds me of the old Love Boat and Star Trek TNG comparison chart, which included a similar captain, black bartenders, a spunky teenager, and ships that seem to go nowhere for starters. I wonder what is up with the many blue pendents. |
