Well the 3 manga that correlate to the anime don't have anything to do with the main story. They're stand alone episodes with the entire Bebop crew. Then there's the 2 Cowboy Bebop: Shooting Star mangas which are reimaginings of the Bebop series. The characters are the same but their origins, how they got on the Bebop (except Spike and Jet), and the enemies they fight are completely different. They're ok, not the best manga to own, but if your a Bebop enthusiast, go for it.

i was slightly dissapointed by them. the character designs threw me off compared to the shows and i found the stories to be kinda sub par. the show was too good and should have been left alone.

I bought the 3 mangas (Not the Shooting Stars), and I didn't get past the 2nd one cause I started getting bored. They are not that bad, but I just thought there was more interesting manga out at the time I picked them up.

Nah, I didn't find them that great. One of the appeals of CB was the animation of the action scenes, which were done quite well. The manga didn't have the jazzy kind of tone the anime/soundtrack had, and so the story lacked the anime's action.

Well or course they won't have a jazzy soundtrack, but hey what books do? Afterall they are books!

But yeah, I own the 2 Shooting Star mangas, they were ok...But i could'nt finish the the second one it was off beat and plain out boring, I think these are just for those die hard Bebop fans who love everything, like me and FLCL. Anime smile

I agree with the person who said that the character designs weren't good. It doesn't have the same experience as if you were watching the anime because the anime is meant to be an audio-visual experience. I don't reccomend the manga.

I've read the 3-volume set, and it's nothing to write home about. Volume 1 is probably the best, but all the stories in the collection are a bit hokey. I only read them because I'm a Bebop fan.

I bought the box set of all 5. I expected better. They are worth reading but not sure if they are really worth buying. The shooting star acutally has a storyline to it while the original three contains stand alone stories. I really liked the story with the news reporter though. I'd say, depends on how hardcore a fan you are.

The 3 volume one has horrible characters designs, badly though out stories that have nothing to do with the serie's storylines, and makes all the characters boring.

The 2 volume book has ugly character designs, switches Ed's gender (and then switches it back), and is cut off just as it starts developing into something worth reading. As someone else pointed out, it's a "reimagining" of the Bebop world, so it too has nothing to do with the TV series, other than character names and ship designs.

HEh,Heh,heh. Yeah I know thats stupid they really need to fix that. I think they need to like redue it. New fresh volumes with every thing like it should be. And by the way do you know Ed's full name I keep on forgeting it. Confused

Well, personally, I liked the 3 book series when I read them. I thought that they were pretty good stand alone stories, as much in the same style as a manga could be. However, it was one of my first mangas and it's been quite some time since then.

Larrix - Ed's full name is Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky the 4th. Of course, she also made it up. I'm not sure if it's ever referenced in the manga. Confused

I liked the manga much more then the show. I was never a huge Bebop fan. And I really don't care for the music in it at all.
