So then is this a synopsis of the movie? I imagine most people have clicked the link by now but if you haven't, don't click it if you dont want to spoil the movie. I've read the book already and know the ending, but the whole story, including the ending, is pretty much revealed in that synopsis.

Yeah, but who is really going to remember this 6 months-1 year from the Japanese release date? (Personal estimate of how long it takes to become region 1.) That synopsis was prob to reassure those Earthsea fans that the material is being handled properly and not like what the Sci-fi Channel did.

It looks good from the synopsis.

I think that the insert song is sad, but really catchy.

Oh dear. I guess J.K. Rowling got it wrong and did a bad thing then?

Well, I'm not obsessed over either series and didn't get the Harry Potter reference. But, if the core concept of a series gets "altered" to make it more popular with a disastrous outcome from the author's perspective, then imagine what the fans and author may be thinking this time around.

I hope that they keep the author involved this time around.

It should be interesting to see how this turns out. I actually haven't read the Earthsea books myself, though it's something I have planned to do for some time, but I did hear about how LeGuin really disliked the live-action adaptation. Hopefully Ghibli will do better.

I also don't have a clue what JK Rowlings has to do with anything.

there's a live action of the Earthsea series? when and who were in it?

going back to the article, it's kind of nice (and cute Razz) that LeGuin and Studio Ghibli are corresponding. Smile

The live-action series was broadcasted in 2004 on the Sci-fi Channel.

Based on that article that I cited in the post above, if those 2 weren't corresponding and she got angry again it would probably be a PR disaster for Studio Ghibli.
