I recently noticed that the final episodes of some shows are labeled as "Season Finale," while others are labeled "Series Finale." What is the difference between the two?

A season finale is the last episode of a specific season whereas a series finale is the last episode of the entire show. Obviously, if a show only gets one season than its season finale is also the series finale.

Frequently, no one knows if a season finale is also a series finale. Even shows that end with "to be continued" may never have an additional season. On the other hand, shows that simply ended have been resurrected. Unless there is official notice of a new season, it is just a big guessing game.

That's what I figured the difference was, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks all.
