Isn't a 40 out of 100 score mediocre or mean that it's a bad movie? I'm not familiar with Japanese scoring system.

So, it's only okay to let people that are already going to like the movie in? Not to say they're right, but they're entitled to their opinions.

Don't even knew why anyone really cares. Critics around the world love blasting anything and everything. The best reward against critics, is financial success.

Often times it is the critics crying horrible things that actually contributes to that success. How many times in recent memory have critics tried to sink something and wound up boosting sales? Its so reliable some companies bank on it.

Of course he's going to be in "hot water" for things he says to close friends. If any real personal text message/tweet/blogging post leaked related to the critics themselves they'd all likely lose their jobs.

40/100 sounds about right for anything based off Attack on Titan, really.

Didn't we already go through this with Sony? It's not some shocking revelation that people say horrible things behind closed doors.

His hole has already been dug. He made it clear in his initial comment that he didn't want anyone there who wasn't going to give the movie positive reviews.

Some artists can't take negative criticism.

it should be pretty obvious from the trailers its not gonna be that good. well, not unless you're the fangirl type. i have a couple buddies from work ask me about it. they dont watch anime, but remember me talking about it a while back and were thinking the live action might be worth watching. i shut that down quick... its a shame really... cause a good movie could have made up for a "okay" anime.

It really does seem like a hit or miss anime Anime catgrin + sweatdrop Either you love it with a fury or hate it. Just what I've seen I guess.

It seems that Mr. Higuchi has learned the hard way that not everyone found the live-action film of Attack on Titan an enjoyable experience...

The difference in culture and social behaviour never ceases to amaze me. This guy gets burnt for a fairly innocent outburst in a private post, yet the Head of Cabinet , some governors and even the President of my country have used offensive words and been openly rude to other political figures and general people... yet no one bats an eye. Incredible.
