Um, the picture show the Gundam is holding a beam rifle in his right hand, not beam sword.

It must be vexing for everyone else in that group that Toru Furuya has barely aged in over 30 years.
It's because he's a Newtype. That, and exposure to the Silver Crystal.

Funny, I just got finished watching some episodes of Gundam, and this is the first thing that pops up. The statues are pretty cool to see.

It blew my mind when I found out the guy who voiced Amuro voiced Casshern in Casshern Sins, as well as Sabo. He sounds almost exactly the same like he did all those years ago.

I was also surprised to see how gracefully he aged when I watched the Gundam TGS livestream.

In the Gundam.Info Japanese article, Furuya has said, "ビーム・ライフル (beam rifle)."
