We'll get more Evangelion and Godzilla in good time. Thing is Godzilla films are supposed to be Fun and it looks to me like everyone at that showing had fun.

It's like a scene straight out of Aoi Honoo! Shimamoto acted totally in character!

Depends on your definition of Godzilla. Should a monster movie designed to reflect the contemporary fears and politics of a country be fun? Was the original Gojira fun? Fair warning: Shin Godzilla, created very much in the spirit of that first film, is not a "fun" movie, and it's been incredibly divisive among non-Japanese viewers (I loved it, for the record).

Don't go in expecting a cheesy, lighthearted B-movie. You'll be disappointed.

I think he should have been working on the last "Eva Rebuild" movie first then working on resurrecting Japan's favorite dinosaur. To at least make fans happy, he could make a Unit 01 vs. Godzilla short and put it on YT.
