There seem to be some efforts underway for that. Since many states are starting to restrict large public gatherings of people to reduce viral spread, a few theater chains like AMC and Regal will now be restricting the number of people allowed into their theaters and encouraging audiences to keep distance from one another. Also, it looks like some movies scheduled to premiere in theaters either later this month, April, or May like the Mulan live-action remake, No Time to Die, and the ninth Fast and the Furious movie are being delayed.

Japan is being very very smart by delaying things.

Our local indie theater announced that this week - they're not selling reserved seats, and they're halving the number of tickets sold. (Which also brings them under gathering size limit.) They're also encouraging people to spread out.

I think this should be a final nail in the coffin for what used to be 20th Century Fox. If that’s the case, that would be the end of a Hollywood institution responsible for letting the Fox network being the major broadcasting force it is today.
And speaking of Japanese theatrical releases, I wonder what happened to the Kukuririaige and Jewelpet film projects. They were originally indefinitely postponed due to production issues, but I have a feeling they will end up being Netflix releases instead due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Will this affect the home video release?
