Okay, when a series that has consistently aired every week for FOURTY-FIVE YEARS has to get delayed because of COVID-19, that’s how you know it’s serious. Of course, I’m sure none of us doubted the severity of this virus, but still!

At first I asked myself, "I thought the oil shock was in 1973, not 1975," until I did some digging and realized that the shock lasted several years in Japan. "In order to regain the industrial production level reached before the first oil shock especially the peak of November 1973, Japan needed eight quarters from the second quarter 1975 to the first quarter of 1977" (Mihut & Daniel, 2012, p. 1046).

Well, at least that show doesn't have to worry about running out of old episodes to rerun.

Hopefully this doesn't put their episode count world record in jeopardy by some other series...

It's incredible, and a bit worrying, how this pandemic has forced some anime and manga to be postponed and delayed for the first time in their history.
