If the cat's eyes were farther apart it would look like Maru.
Also, "female character" = "grandfather"?

The cats think she's a man. Which is why casting Tanaka, a woman who has famously played men and teenage boys for the last 40 years, but is now slowly moving into being cast as old ladies, is perfect casting.
