Hot damn. I think this is the first Love Live series to get three seasons as opposed to two.

And the usual "3rd year drama" subplot line now actually has weight and merit to it because we've seen the main 5 from the beginning. This is going to be quite exciting.

On one hand this is fantastic news, with Superstar easily being my favourite installment of Love Live so far.
On the other, it locks Takahiko Kyōgoku away from a directorial role for any hypothetical (& at this point, pretty unlikely) second season of Land of the Lustrous for a least another year or two. And that's just sad. |

That's good news, though not massively surprising. There's been speculation about a third season for quite some time in the episode review thread. It's been obvious from a few episodes into the second season that the pacing and character arcs were much more suited to a longer run, rather than the usual "two seasons and a movie".

Wow Superstar got a 3rd season I thought it would of been Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai for sure

nice surprise. Superstar is easily my favorite (feel good) idol series . my only complain is they never dwelve much into background preparation (costume / music arrangement etc) aside from dance / chareography.
