So will this remastered version have any new content? I ask because I recently got the game on Steam and don't want to be obligated to buy a better version.

No, this remaster is identical to the one that has already been released for PS2, PS3, and Windows.
Which is really pretty frustrating, but every Symphonia fan already knows that rant by heart...
