Not sure if it'll be a serious conflict or anything but seems like there's a disconnect from people expecting the MC to be a warrior/adventurer while he just wants to make sweets.

He needs to be a powerful warrior in order to be able to make sweets. That sure is a lot of work needed to get your bake on.
