Nothing of value was lost.

I had some expectations as the gameplay seemed well received, but I guess like most live games these days it was destroyed but its economy system.

It's a shame - back when it was announced, it had the potential to be a nicer anime-themed answer to a lot of the MMO sorts of games that are prevalent today. In truth, what I think I really am looking for is a Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst that can be played as couch co-op or with matchmaking on modern consoles - no monthly sub, no fear of Sega shutting it down prematurely.
I imagine there's probably gonna be a lot of people pointing fingers at Amazon, but from what I had been seeing of JP player reactions and streams, the devs looked like they didn't know what the hell they were doing. BamCo (and also Amazon) are the highest up on my "I don't buy things from them without very good reason" list after all of the losses they've been making Gundam and Digimon game fans eat in recent years. As time has passed, I don't think we can realistically say anymore that Blue Protocol would have done anything that you cant mostly find in Genshin or Zenless now.... as much as I'm not a fan of either of those games either.
Genshin works well in spite of it being a live service/Gacha, I hope Blue Protocol being mismanaged to hell by the devs doesn't dissuade other companies from trying to give us a fancy anime-looking MMO in the future. I'll be taking my broken dreams with me as I go curse BamCo and Amazon's names, and pray that Gunmetal Gothic turns into something functionally-playable.
