The first one and a half episodes were kinda underwhelming, Pantso is just about the last show that needs to ponderously tie up loose ends and establish any sort of status quo; it would have been better if the show just showed Panty and Stocking watching the cliffhanger on TV, going "well that was dumb", and then moving on. Thankfully the second half of episode 2 from Amemiya was a really fun bit

So, what Aqua Teen Hunger Force did? https://youtu.be/vGqnWdg_Axg?si=0BSjFPK9kDcwsg-6 They had put too much emphasis on it between the Geek Boy doujin and the like to not address it. |

Man, honestly the first episode was great. Didn't see the second yet. My only complaint is the dub cast changing. Honestly, I wish Amazon had just redubbed season 1 for the sake of consistency. Having a brand new cast that isn't consistent with season 1 is just bad for business. Reminds me of when Funimation did the same with Shana.

I always thought the cliffhanger ending of the first season was part of the joke. A nod at how a lot of western cartoons would often set up some big cliffhanger ending and then get cancelled and never resolved like Sonic the Hedgehog, Exosquad, Pirates of Dark Water, Gargoyles. It was never meant to be followed up on or resolved. It was a perfect sendoff to a show meant to emulate and mimic western animation and often did so extremely well. In a way I suppose "Stocking isn't actually a demon she was just being mind-controlled" was a fitting copout to quickly walk it back and get on with the show again. |

I thought the first half of the second episode wasn't that great, but the entire first episode and second half of the second were great, like the show never left. "Guy Jin" Ha!

I think I'm with you on this. It felt like they spent the exact wrong amount of time tying things up from season 1. They should have either spent more time on it (not a lot more, but maybe a couple episodes), or a lot less like you suggested. What the settled on felt like the worst of either option. I did find the driving past all the pot shops relatable as there are 5 or 6 of them within about 5 blocks from my house. |

How has the English dub been?

Disappointing because it's completely recast. It's not the same without Monica Rial or Jamie Marchi. That was the main reason I was so excited about this. |

I had mentioned this before, but the first P&S anime wasn't dubbed into other languages, like Latin American Spanish and Portuguese, but Prime Video did dub this new season into multiple languages, but the first series is not even available, considering that this is a direct continuation, I doubt Amazon and/or Trigger assumed that all of Prime Video's subscriber had aldready seen the first season, it kind of reminds me of last year when Disney+ obtained the rights to Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture, despite the fact that none of the other CG were available on its service. I also mentioned this before, but when Netflix got the rights to Tiger & Bunny and Kimi ni Todoke's new seasons, at least they added the first seasons (and also the movies in T&B's case) of both shows and they even dubbed them into languages that never got them before (and a French redub in the case of Kimi ni Todoke).
Is finishing the show on a cliffhanger a common cliché in Western Animated shows? Not to mention that P&S was mainly inspired by Western adult cartoons like Drawn Together, where I think most of the jokes is that, even if the characters all die in the end they'll be back to normal in the next episode, the so called, "status quo is God" trope. |

I feel like the Plot was supposed to play out totally different instead of Stocking just being mindcontrolled. It wouldve also made a better follow up Season with actual Lore of both of them.
But eh |

Which is something they did when they not only swooped in to get Eva 4.0 but also the three prior movies. But I am pretty sure they do not have streaming rights for season 1, so it was not going to happen, and leaves me wishing that Amazon had just stayed away. It's just not a great customer experience to have to go across different streaming services to watch parts of one show or to have a cast change. |

I am so happy this show is back! Sad to see Gainax fail but happy to see the show get reunited with their parents at Trigger. The first two episodes didn't disappoint and I am glad to see the glowing reviews. I was laughing pretty hard at episode 2's card battle.
That being said, the only issue I have is the English license. I mean, the change to Amazon means we got a lot of new. The new cast is good and is doing a good job and I mean that. However, they are trying to emulate the old cast which stinks because you know the who can sound on point with the old cast..... the old cast. Then there is the fact that Amazon and Crunchyroll each has half the show. So you need 2 streaming services to watch all of the episodes. That seems really stupid. Finally, any fan of the English dub knows the catch phrase by heart when the angels take out a ghost. Repent Motherf***er! So I guess after 2 episodes we are now stuck with "Repent B*tch?" A lot of unnecessary compromise that us fans have to endure all because Amazon put themselves in a place where they don't belong. |

well it was not their fault. there was no chance funi was going to get the old cast for shana considering how crazy ass expensive those ocean studios VAs from canada were! pretty much every dub fan knew that. although its no excuse for amazon to not use whatever resources necessary get the old panty and stocking cast for this new season! probably would have been better to have crunchyroll to have gotten the license instead of amazon! |

I don't feel like western animation has this happen any more than live action shows or anime even. Is this perhaps seen as a cliche outside the US of US shows? |

I don't know if it still is but it was pretty common back in the 80s and 90s when there were a lot of action and story focused cartoons like the ones I mentioned. These days that kind of genre doesn't exist much anymore so it might not be as relevant or common to see. But given everything else about the show like the 30 minute theme song, the two 11 minute segments, Gainax/Trigger definitely did their homework on how American cartoons were like back in the day so I just kind of assumed it was the case and it would have been a funny way to end the series. |
