That sure is a basic premiere with an extreme amount of cliches thrown in. Reincarnation, skills, a status screen, evil nobles, the mc being the chosen one.... it is all there. I fully expect the show to be about the mc fixing all that is wrong with the world while people praise everything he does plus him possibly becoming the next king. Evil nobles getting slapped about sounds fun but I am not sure that will be enough to keep me watching the whole thing. |

Yah, this one has all the elements that can make me abandon an isekai
(1) Adult in young body? Check. (2) Instant OPness? Check. (3) A protagonist who inspires either extreme sociopathy or extreme adoration with no middle ground? Check. (4) A harem of older woman who are inappropriate because of his physical age, and younger women who are inappropriate because of his mental age? Mmmn, not yet, but the early signs are there. What I will say is that this show has more brains than Noble on the Brink of Ruin. The subplot involving a natural disaster and moving to prevent an influx of carpetbaggers and vultures had a bit more texture and depth than the usual anime of this type. And the MC's character didn't annoy me even if the sight of a toddler swinging a sword as big as him around and sounding more grown-up than the grown-ups was still ridiculous. |

I couldn't quite suspend my disbelief about how the disaster issue was handled in this first ep. Feels like this is another case of the problem where the MC must be awesome, so the author has to write something to justify it, but they haven't thought things properly through, so the world bends backward to make it so in ways that don't make a lot of sense. In some sense magical/martial prowess is easier to do, and we get also that here not subtly at all. On the other hand, there wasn't anything overly annoying here, and maybe this is good for low-stakes detached watching on the side.

As I mentioned in the Easygoing Territory Defense thread, the whole "isekai'd into a reincarnated noble with OP skill to rise up to something better" trope(?) is becoming a more common thing (or maybe already is). That being said, I think what might help separate this amongst its peers is where the ambition takes it.
I do like the fact that Noah is so OP, it could lead to a kind of "corresponding OP story," where degrees of over-the-top-ness will give the show its own unique flavor. While sorcery or some kind of superpower is a recurring theme in a lot of these isekai reincarnation shows, I feel if you can tastefully scale it based on whatever world-building rules exist within that franchise, it can still make for some compelling entertainment. Granted, this was just one episode to set up Noah, in particular. So hopefully in the next few, we get to see more characters, places, factions, etc. that exist in that world. Ten volumes of light novel sounds like a lot of material to pull from, and I'm excited if the plot summary for this actually meets the potential I hope it has. |

Yup, seems like this is going to be Noah's weekly adventures of growing ever more powerful. This week he got a defensive magical item and his sword is a great match for it, said sword has a temper regarding anyone who is a treat to its owner. That one lender/ruffian was a giant idiot, he was given mercy once and still could not take the hint. I will keep watching to see how Noah turns the kingdom into a better place. |

I know that there need to be issues for Noah to solve every week but given the sheer amount of major ones thus far the empire seems absolutely rife with corruption and chaos. Given that Noah is so on the ball likely means that most of the other fiefs are not functioning all that well. |

Ep 3: There's for sure a lot of scenes where Noah gets congratulated / groveled at / excels at something here, feels like it's a bit more than average. The scheming in the empire seems a bit higher quality now than in the previous eps. I wonder a bit about the swordfight, if his skill is fully dependent on the legendary sword, (i) didn't the emperor know about that, and (ii) wouldn't it still make sense to train a bit if he ever is without the thing. Anyway, I think the trajectory of the show is fully locked in by now, so the MC is likely to be a fully glazed man of steel at the end, and the empire still in dire need of saving, by him of course.

I pity that rebel leader, he planned and schemed so much and yet he was instantly killed by a sword that used magic to perform a sniper shot from a crazy distance. Noah is also getting a reward from the emperor every five minutes or so. |

Ep 4: I thought the emperor was making the basic mistake just for some theatre, but apparently it was supposed to be taken at face value, in which case I can understand why the empire seems to be in shambles. The reaction of his maidservant after having been coerced into the plot was strange, how come she was still expecting to be punished? And maybe it would have been a better idea to take something less dangerous than some unknown sleeping potion which could as well have been anything? I worry about the quality of scheming in the empire...
The emperor sure has read some parenting advice about encouragement and praising their children. |

After seeing episode 5 I am convinced that I need to turn off my brain while watching. I say that because the whole concept of the knight selection exam was utterly moronic. You need to attack the prince to show how skilled you are yet wounding him will get you arrested and thrown into the dungeon. That is ignoring the mockery that it makes of the warriors trying while Noah sips his tea. Then there is the statue part. A priceless relic of the past and it gets destroyed to curry favor. Surely there was a better way of doing things. That is not mentioning the money wasted that could have enhanced the people, you know, what Noah considers the true treasures. |

Yeah, I started watching Ep 5, saw the female (of course!) knight break his shield, and in the next scene grovel to him to apologize, and then it all hit home and I just had to bail out. Have to try again later with less brain activity to minimize the damage this does.

Episode 6 was thankfully not nearly as idiotic as the previous one. You do have to wonder about how common it is for a band of ruffians to attack someone in broad daylight though. The first prince is likely to become the big villain at some point. I do not give him the slightest chance of winning but he will likely try. |

Ep 6: A time skip of 6 years, and those were less eventful than the last 5 episodes? Everyone is still fawning over Noah every 5 minutes, and random good or tough deeds are done on a 10 minute interval. I guess it's going to just be like this for the whole runtime of this show, regardless of what I think about that. Plotwise, I guess some arc is about to start now in response to whatever news the emperor got.I think the evil smirk at the end belonged to the second(?) prince, so no doubt he's up to some villainy in the near future.

You can clean up the mess all you want but sooner or later that crown prince is going to try to take over the kingdom or die trying. Giving him a fake position is only going to buy a bit of time at best. And yes, @rapata the show is likely not going to stop fawning over Noah anytime soon if ever. |
