Skipping right over 2026, huh? So there's no excuse if it looks like dogshit again, right?

There was a time when I, naïve and inexperienced, thought that people saying things like "it'd be better if this anime never got a sequel" were simply haters who'd rather have something disappear than not be to their taste.

Dear so-called haters, I sincerely apologize. For now I can finally understand your pain.

OPM does NOT need another season, most certainly not one made by J.C. Staff. This announcement honestly made my day worse, not better, despite being a fan of One Punch Man. It's a truly bizarre feeling.

They could give it 5 more years and it'd still look like garbage.

This is the important thing to remember. The third season was announced years in advance, but the production committee gave the studio less than six months to actually work on it.

Even with this being more than a year out, unless the animators are actually given the time they need, this is going to turn out just as miserable as this past cour did.

Nah. In 5 years, it'll be full AI so it will look way better.

I just feel bad for the animators who will likely get pushed into an unrealistic battle against deadlines again.

A reputable animator that worked on season 3 said the schedule of season 1 was pretty much the same as season 3 and that season 1 had just a little bit more time, but it was drastically better because it was a "passion project".
so yeah, I'm not buying all the "schedule" excuses, it's simply incompetent and bad studio.

Production will start shortly before it's set to air.

Well, I guess there's nowhere to go animation quality-wise but up.

This is going to be rough either way. And I know it's not the animator's fault, but still.

I gotta say, I agree with BalmungHHQ, and I think the comments here are starting to help me understand why AAA game studios focus so much on how games look instead of how they play and whether they're actually fun.

Many of the people that call themselves anime fans, seem to act more like animation experts, and base an anime's worthiness on how good it looks. While I can understand wanting your favorite series to look its best, and it didn't help that a studio with a better reputation made the first season, saying that the show should cease to exist at all just because the animation quality isn't top tier, seems ludicrous to me.

I would suggest some of the commenters take a look at DBZ. It's arguably one of the most recognized IPs in the world of anime, and it's animation quality varied greatly over the course of its run, but that didn't stop fans from enjoying it. In fact they were simply satisfied to get any new material that they could.

I just wish that today's fans could be more like the ones back then.

Lot of people, complain about animation, quality, not just animation, quality, but delivery, dialogue, everything about series has gone to hell since going to JC staff. The animated itself isn’t funny. It’s just another 900-episode fighting series now.

As it's the winter season, this seems appropriate:

Let it go, let it go
Please hold it back evermore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door

I'm sure this was decided at the same time as the first half was greenlit but I have to wonder if it's even worth it for JC Staff to work on OPM anymore. They clearly weren't given enough time for the project, the adaption has become a laughing stock and has reflected really badly on the studio, and the thanks they get is their staff members getting harassed on social media. Just seems like a terrible scenario for all involved to be in, which is a shame since there actually have been some good cuts in the show so in another universe they could have made a pretty good adaption.

I heard A Cat Studios is doing Season 4 and Season 5.
I am thinking that is why.
That said, this move by JC Staff is making question if that studio will be working on those next two seasons. At least this way, we don’t have to wait over 5 years. They must be working on it already.
