It's been nearly a decade since the last Fire Emblem remake released, yet still no news of another despite the former's success.

Just SELL these games already, Nintendo! I will happily pay for them, but you will never get me to subscribe to your damned service.

It's worth noting English Gamecube copies of the game are fairly rare for the game's popularity - it had a short production run and Ike would subsequently appear in Smash, but it and direct sequel Radiant Dawn were never rereleased - and are EXTREMELY expensive as a result. Looking forward to this easing the demand some!

You and me both! I think it may actually be the rarest? Out of the games I've looked into, it's certainly the most expensive, at least -- around $250 USD for a used copy in decent condition, versus closer to $200 USD for a copy of Skies of Arcadia in similar condition.
And I've very nearly given up on Arcadia ever being available for a reasonable price....
Hopefully the NSO availability will (eventually) reduce demand some. I know copies of Tales of Symphonia were pretty pricey for a while now, but now they're pretty cheap. Though, admittedly, there's a gulf of difference between renting an emulated copy via NSO versus being able to just buy a digital copy of the game on PS4/PS5/Steam/NS1/etc.
EDIT: Oh, and it's not really on-topic, but I just wanted to say in case it was relevant to the interests of any other Gamecube fans here, I just picked up a RetroFighters Gamecube controller last weekend, and it's really handy! Uses a 2.5ghz wireless signal to connect to a physical gamecube console via an adapter, but you can flick a switch to change it to bluetooth to sync up with your PC, Switch or Switch 2. It feels really nice in the hand, and being able to just swap it between different platforms on the fly is really, really convenient. Kinda wish I'd picked one up much earlier.

God dang it, I literally started replaying Path of Radiance on GameCube a day before this was announced....
But still very good news. The game was going for over $300 bucks on ebay the other day. Hopefully a bunch of Fire Emblem fans get the chance to play this for the first time. It's one of my favorites.

I know it'll have to wait until they announce an even more expensive monthly sub for Switch Online + Expansion Pass + Super Expansion Pass, but they also need to get Radiant Dawn on there quick so that new players can actually experience the full story

Yes I was waiting for this. When I saw that it was there on Saturday, or it might've been Sunday, I started playing it and so far, 11 chapters in it lives up to the hype. This is one of only 3 Fire Emblem games I haven't played yet, and if it continues on this track it'll end up being one of my favorites

Never finished the game. I'm sure I still have it and.the memory card in storage somewhere. Having save states is a big plus, but so would be a rewind.

You can buy the games, for the GameCube.

You can also just emulate it At this point I'm kind of over "buying" games on a virtual console that either don't carry over to the next console (Wii U to Switch) or you have to pay to upgrade (Wii > Wii U) era so I'm fine with a subscription service and just treat them all as a bonus to the online component (even if it means they can just take them away at any point, but again, emulation exists so they're never going to go away)

The point is that the game is at an exorbitantly expensive price because of a short supply (as multiple people have already mentioned in this thread), which pretty obviously should not be the case and Nintendo should actually take care to make their games readily available for people to buy and play (instead of tying them to a subscription service because they are scared of consumers owning anything they purchase)

Yeah, I was hoping for a remake duology of this and Radiant Dawn - preferably one that changes Radiant Dawn's support system to be more in line with the traditional style, though I'd get why not if they didn't between "tangible gameplay benefits to everyone being able to support each other even if the dialogue's generic" and "the sheer amount of work that would be with a game whose cast is as big as Radiant Dawn's" - that you could actually buy. Gamecube discs won't last forever, even if the prices drop now that it's semi-accessible, and if you don't want to mess around with emulation or don't have a system that can handle it, it sucks that there's no way to purchase and keep the game because the game industry's figured out you can keep people on the hook by tying your back catalog to subscription service. (Also including Sony here, given the only way to play the classic Ratchet and Clank games on modern hardware is through Playstation Plus.)

Yeah provided you have something that can actually run the game properly. Like a gaming PC which not everyone does.

Maybe because in that time we had Three Houses & Engage and the soon to be released Fortunes Weave.
