It's always amusing when someone like Miyamoto or Furukawa "signs" a message

i know it's probably been said dozens of times and i know nintendo doesn't distribute films themselves, but it still amazes me that SONY (the people who own the playstation brand) are distributing a NINTENDO movie...
like....wow...

It's not big of a deal, Sony is a giant conglomerate with tons of different divisions that actually don't have a lot of close connections between each other, in fact, some of the soundtracks for Nintendo games like Xenoblade were distributed by the Sony Music label, not to mention Nintendo had worked with Sony Pictures in the past when they allowed characters like Donkey Kong to appear in Pixels. Heck, Aniplex is part of Sony and they have released exclusive games for Nintendo, but not on the PlayStation.
However, I have to say that it's kind of interesting the fact that Sony (Columbia/TriStar) have distributed/produced various video game movies, and not just those who were bases on Sony Interactive Entertainment games like Uncharted and Gran Turismo, but others like Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within and Resident Evil.
