I've listened to the first four volumes of this on audiobook (all that's out in English at the moment), and I highly recommend experiencing it that way. Courtney Lin, the VA who reads it, so wonderfully brings out the snarky attitude of the narrator that I dearly hope she gets that role for the upcoming anime adaptation, too. (And I hope that the narration is retained in that version, as it's practically half the fun.) And while the novels are primarily comedy, they're not just that in the long run; some distinct mystery elements start to creep in past the second novel, too.

It's a fun series, and I'm looking forward to seeing if the anime adaptation can fully capture its absurdities.

I have listening the entire series on Audiobook and yes Courtney Lin is doing amazing job as the narrator with the right level of Snarky. Volume 5 audiobook recently released and mystery part is engaging. I do hope anime keeps the narrator because is core to the charm of the series
