NGL, I was NEVER expecting Hotori to ever get any kind of home release anywhere, let alone one with an English dub, so you bet your ass I bought this the second it dropped! I love this short film. I understand the reviewer's grievances with it, and everyone is going to have a different opinion on Hotori as a whole. I personally adore this movie, and while I do agree that it would have been nice for it to show the things that it left to the viewer's imagination and maybe gone on for a bit longer, none of these things hurt my enjoyment of Hotori, and I feel its more muted, grounded approach is to its benefit, as it's not really beating you over the head over and over with constant angst and melodrama, as some series tend to do. *coughcoughAgentsOfTheFourSeasonscoughcough*

And I found SkySet's English dub to be fairly solid. They're a fairly new company, so I'm willing to give them some leniency for stuff like the occasional stiff performance and off-sync lip flaps, but it works for what Hotori is as a movie. Considering a lot of these new VAs worked on hentai stuff like Nukitashi, I hope Hotori opens the door for them to work on more stuff that's not just hentai. I know it's happening with Sky Santacruz, as she's in both Shiboyugi and the new Ascendance of a Bookworm season.

And yes, the soundtrack for this is great, and I'm sad it's not available on CD or anywhere else.

Always love seeing old gems like this see new light via remastered blu ray releases. There's something about seeing a quality remaster/upscale of an old show like this - especially digipaint shows like this from the 00s that have no right looking this good.

Especially considering it's lack of previous physical release, it'll be nice to know it gets a little more watchtime with people now.
