This is one of those unfortunate games where the definitive title in the series is probably the nDS release, as it shares better parity with the gameplay of later Marle Kingdome titles, as well as generally having more Disgaea cameos and extra chapters added (some even missing in the EN nDS release).
Rather than go with that version, they keep choosing to release the slower & not-as-complete PS1 version, and it's like.... if you want to get into the Marle Kingdom series that badly, then it does its job, but if you want the full 100% experience you have to know how to setup and translate the nDS version, and it's a little trickier than it needs to be with how rare some of the materials for it are. They could have opted to make a version of this game that included both prints, they could have opted to try and add the extra stuff in, but at the end of the day it's hard to recommend something that feels like you're missing 30% of the game, when most people that played this on release have already given it a full run once or twice already. |

I've only played the DS version. Is the Switch 1 version the same as the DS or is it like this version?

The Switch 1 version is based on the PS1 version, only unlike the PS1 version, it offers both English and Japanese audio. |
