Finally! It's done. Don't know how many were waiting for this. But it's good to hear that it's going to be released. Wink

While I'm interested, isn't the Highlander series consider non-anime? Oh, and the link that ANN links to with this news item links to the TMNT CGI movie news. Is this a fluke as well? Twisted Evil

JMays: So they're doing a Battle of the Planets movie, too?

Quote:
It was our attempt to take a Japanese anime process, if you will, and try to put it in a Western storytelling concept, where you have a beginning, middle and end. With Miyazaki [Howl's Moving Castle], ... no one can understand what is going on. It's brilliant, but that's why it's not playing universally in the West.

That's bs. The reason no one can tell what's going on in Howl's is because Miyaaki's scripts have gone to pot. I've never seen a Kawajiri anime I didn't understand.

non-anime or not, if it's done in Japan it's anime. :p Smile

I was expecting it this year, but I guess they needed more time. Let them take as much time as they want. As long as it's good, I don't care. No need to rush.

Damnit. It looks like they're gonna double-dip with a director's cut of the film. I hope it ain't BD/HD-exclusive. Mad

I'm definitely double-dipping... but it's actually a little interesting to know that they actually cut Kawajiri's film down in terms of time; I was actually quite fond of the fact that the movie didn't really drag anywhere and that the pacing was pretty much spot-on.

In any case, I'll see what I like better when this comes out.

Also, I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that this is some kinda cultural break-through for animation production (well, this and Afro Samurai, I'm assuming... but I can't exactly remember most of the aspects of its production...); it was an expensive experiment, but I think that it paid off (the only problem now is getting everyone else on board...).

EDIT: Oh yes... I think the DC version will actually have a Japanese dub on it; that'll probably help sell it to more people.
