It is, for future reference, a good idea to do a thorough independent search of your own (using search engines and ANN's own search feature) before coming to the forums.

The idea of more Berserk and why it ended so soon can be found in the following Answerman columns:
January 1st '02
July 27th '01
September 5th '03

You could search more yourself, but I think those should address much of what you were asking.

By the way, the author of most of the Answerman Column's referenced is Zac Bertschy, and if he reads this question, it may make a portion of his head explode.

Ask about Sailor Stars and a continuation of Trigun next to finish him off.

There has been rumors of a 2nd series, but I don't think that will happen until the manga actually ends. So if you want to know what happen you have to to get the manga! Hopefully it won't take years for the US release to catch up to JP manga.

the anime's just a prequel to the manga. i suggest reading it as it gets a lot more dark and disturbing(the further details of Gatts' past are quite ugly), plus the artwork rules.

Ya i've actually researched this topic several times, and here is one item that i've read in the past.

Quote:
OLM Studios is currently early in pre-production on new Berserk animation; however, because the continuing story is so violent, it may not be suitable for Japanese television. If new Berserk animation is created in OAV format, it will almost definitely be much shorter than a typical 26 episode TV series. Surprisingly, Media Blasters also revealed that the translation and distribution license to the 25 episode Berserk was more expensive than the license to the 95 episode Rurouni Kenshin"

but is this true? I heard the same thing from other source about six months ago and that ended up being false? Does anybody know the truth behind this?

Yes, it was true.

Pre-production, naturally, doesn't mean that a series will be produced. Lots of ideas reach pre-production stages, but few ever receive the funding or development necesssary to actually begin production work on them.

Whether or not Berserk 2 will reach production remains to be seen. It seems (as of this summer) that it's not a dead project... but without proper funding, it may never see actual completion.

well then it should go into production considering the popularity of the first season, I highly doubt they would have a problem getting funded!

The thing is, I really don't think the story in the manga has progressed enough to justify another anime yet. There just hasn't been a lot happening.

I think there is spoiler[theres the inqustiniar,Caska coming back, and the rebirth of Griffith could be the way to cliffhang it as the ending]

i think manga has progressed enough for another season, as manga's into volume 24 or so...

but i wonder how much of the mature content of the story will be kept...it does get quite violent.

i hope they wait until manga wraps up the current story of
spoiler[ guts and his new companions encountering the reborn griffith and his powerful followers.]

This most likely doesn't mean too much, but Amazon just changed the Berserk Boxed set title to:
Berserk - Season One (The Complete Collection) (2000)
Most likely its Amazon, trying to increase sales by pointing out that this includes the beginning, but since people seem to ask about a second season so often I'll mention it.
Sorry, but Hellsing - Complete Collection is still Hellsing - Complete Collection.

If it helps, you can always buy the upcoming PS2 game which is sure to suck, because it's from Sammy.

Popularity doesn't really mean anything. People have been clamoring for more Cowboy Bebop and Trigun past their 26 episodes each (and one CB movie) for years and thus far we've been told adamantly that both series are completed.

Again, if it helps, http://www.jaggedteam.com/bin/shownews.cgi?id=3348 says Bandai has plans to release the Bebop PS2 game in the U.S. in October.

The Boxset of Berserk actually says: "Season One" on the cover.
For absolutely no reason whatsoever I might add.

I highly suggest that you treat the anime as a prequel to manga. As much as I love the anime, the manga is even more indepth with the character develpoment of The Hawks (before you-know-what happens). Some of the stuff that happens to Guts as a kid is just wrong on so many levels. There are also some characters that are not in the anime that play very key parts in the later chapters.
