A little confused here. I assume that Stand Alone Complex is a prequel to the movie Ghost in the Shell, but ANN has it listed as a sequel.
For obvious reasons, this can't be a sequel unless they completly ignore the movie, so can someone verify that it is indeed a prequel? Thanks! |

I think they are both based on the manga and are two completely independent takes on it. The television show does however seem to follow the manga more closely than the movie.

Yeah, it's a spin-off series really. Same characters, same foundations put in different scenarios. Innocence however, is the fully-blown sequel to Ghost in the Shell, as far as I know any way. Someone please tell me if I am wrong, but this is what I've been lead to believe.

There were some things mentioned in GITS:SAC that led me to believe that it was NOT a prequel to the movie. I think they even briefly mentioned it in one of the episodes.
I have not read the mangas for it though so I could be wrong. D.W. |
