Here's an interesting little project I'm working on.

Does anyone know of a pre-2002 use of the term "Cine-manga" either commercially or by fans, in America or Japan?

Personally, I sure that I have seen the word used before Tokyopop started using it, but for the life of me I can't find any references to it other than Tokyopop's titles.

Hmm... I don't remember it being the exact term, but I recall something similar about 3-4 years ago or so. I remember seeing Japanese imports of Cardcaptor Sakura and Love Hina TV done in a manga style format.

Although I don't recall using the term, I remember thinking something very similar to these lines.
