It's about 9 here on the west coast, so probably many anime fans on the east coast are watching the premire of WHR on Adult Swim.

My question is: what's your first impression? Are there any edits made? Do you think Adult Swim did a good job in transfering the show to American airwaves?

The opening theme's gone & the ending theme's sped up (no surprise there), but that aside it's no different from watching the DVD nearest I can tell.

It was pretty good. I enjoyed it for the most part. And the last card they showed was quite amusing. Tripping people is possibly the worst witch power to have. Heck, 5 year olds could do it. Laughing

It looks good thus far. One of the characters kinda looks like Hitler, werid. The animation reminds me of the animes shown on Techtv. I haven't heard the opening yet and the ending was ok for being speed up.

WHR has serious potential. I have never seen it, and simply thought it was wonderful. The music is great in most areas. Characters and storyline(at the moment!) seem fluid. I hope this turns out to be something good. By the way, this is my first post! I look forward to talking with you guys in the near future.

Yay to people finally being able to see this great series!

And yeah, WHR does/did have great potential. Hopefully the live action series will work on that more then the anime. *Wishes another season of the anime would be announced*

Here we go again. I can't wait until the series ends and I get flooded with "When is more WHR coming out?!" because you don't see what happens to Amon at the end of the show.

Look, sometimes (most times) not every loose end is tied up at the end of an anime series. The Japanese vastly prefer open endings, endings that make you thinka bout what you've seen and hypothesize what might have happened. I saw the end of WHR; there's only one question left unanswered and it isn't really THAT big a deal. Not every show NEEDS more episodes; WHR ran its course. It has an ending. They've done what they could do with that world and those characters.

Instead of just mindlessly consuming and then begging for more, maybe we should stop and think about what we've seen and respect the creator's decision to end the story where it ended.

I loved it! It's definately worth staying up for, and, if I think it's as great as everyone says, I'm definately going to have to pick up the DVDs.

I agree, if a series were that didn't need the episodes, shouldn't do that, that'd kill any great series.

from what I saw it seems like they are gonna do a good job with it, though I doubt I'll be able to stay up all the time to watch it...maybe I could get a friend to tape it for me...or just borrow the dvds from someone...

though I think I like reading the cards more than watching the show...

I watched episode 1 last night ('replacement') and to be totally honest, I was bored by it. It was a little confusing but I was willing to look past that so I kept watching.... and by the end I didn't feel like I had wasted a half hour of my life but I know that I'm not going to go out of my way to watch this series again. *shrug*

It’s human nature to want more of something that was good. I was unsatisfied with the ending of WHR *it wasn’t JUST the Amon thing that peeved me*, and felt they could of done a better job with it, but like you said, I should respect the creators decision, and will. However that won’t stop me from wishing for more of the series. WHR was a great new show with an original atmosphere lacking from other anime, and I loved it. I want more. So sue me. Hopefully the live action show will sate my cravings. And don’t worry, I won’t be e-mailing you questions about when the next part of the anime will be coming out.

I got a great quote to go along with that. I read it in a review for Avalon on Amazon.com, it said '"AVALON".... WE DISTORT, YOU DECIDE.'

that could go along with most other Japanese cinema/tv shows etc.

WHR definitely has the slickest animation of any show they've shown so far on AS. (At least, the first ep does) And by putting it at the midnight slot, they may draw in new fans of those who watched AS for Futurama and Family Guy, and not the anime. Their interest may be picqued, and suddenly you have a new fan.

I didn't get to see the show straight off of TV, but I got it on tape (unfortunately on SLP speed) and it looked pretty interesting.

I liked how the Adult Swim commercial thing advertised it as "X-Files meets Vampire Princess Miyu." Laughing

I've changed my VCR to record every episode on SP speed now, and the quality will be much better.

The animation is quite sleek and the dubbing sounds pretty good too (I know I recognize a few of those voices). I'm sure I'll buy it on DVD once it comes in a box set or something.

Cool show! Cool
