YES! When I was looking for the fansubs I found that the series (called Hinotori in Japanese) has been licenced. The company is a bit odd though. The details are still very unclear, but from what I understand the Japanese company which has rights will be distributing it overseas. I saw PBS mentioned a couple of times in some article, but don't take it as it will be broadcast on PBS (I believe they simply have an affiliation with a Japanese brodcasting company) Weither it will be released using the Japanese company or through another party is still unclear, but at least it looks like we will be seeing it.
From what i've seen it looks worthy of the original manga (not as good, but worthy). Definitally worth a watch. The only bad part is I hear its going to be only 13 episodes. Hopefully they can extend it.
