This had to before the Yugioh movie. I think that flop might just nuke their company.

I doubt it. The movie couldn't have cost that much (seeing that big budget animes usually cost in the 20 million range, this couldn't have been more than 10 million) to make, so they probobly will earn back their money in the theatres or make a profit. Plus when you factor in home video sales (which will probobly be strong), it really wasn't that big of a mistake at all.

Depends on what they put as their quarterly goal. I suspect they miffed it, and even if profitable, missing that hurts stock price.

Seeing as the creation of animated theatrical features isn't nearly their primary source of bussiness it won't have much of an impact either way. The actual amount of money 4Kids put up for the production is probably negligable, anyway.

Since the movie made $9 million when most people expected it to make $4 or 5 million,I guess it didn't do badly IMO.

I suppose, but Yu-Gi-Oh, really is dying (already!) in the US...put this movie out about 6 months earlier and I think it would've done at least 1.5 times better...

Currently, 4Kids is going down...Unfortunately, One Piece and Tokyo Mew Mew are probably going to reverse that...8-year-olds really don't care.

Well they'll probably keep going down, what's the attention span of an 8 year old anyway?

I doubt it. The card game is still going very strong (as shown by 30 obnoxious brats playing in some tournament in my local comicbook store every saturday). Just because the film didn't gross a huge amount really doesn't mean anything, because I'm sure most kids will probobly buy it when it comes out on DVD.

'Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie' wasn't a flop at all. In fact, it's performing very well (considering the low budget). One thing for sure though - articles like this will do wonders for 4Kid's stock.

Well, no, that's because it's the original CCG (or is that TCG?) and was capable of thriving off of it's originality rather than it's commercialism. Infact there have been several attempts at merchandising Magic in other ways, but aside from novels, they've all faled. Even the mighty Hasbro couldn't get anything to sell pass the cards after buying WotC.

Yeah. It's not as big as it used to be, but it's still fairly popular and has a decent sized fanbase.
