Glad I decided to get the Blu-ray instead of buying a ticket for the second time. Didn’t cost much more anyways.

I'm not sure why GKids thought things would be better in August when pretty much all of Hollywood has delayed all their films for the year and movie theaters are just playing old films for the ones that are open again. People are still too nervous with the major risks right now to go to the theaters. But I'm glad they decided to delay it again and that the home video release is still coming out.

I hate to say it, but I'd rather they play it carefully rather than risk lives.

Editorial question, since the persons involved and their full names were included in mentioning the special features, why only include their family names at the end?

Wonder if this'll affect whether it will still get a future steelbook/limited edition release (like Promare and Weathering with You). For a gorgeous film like Children of the Sea, I'd love a steelbook at least.

Why don't they just have virtual screenings like they did with 'Marona's Fantastic Tale' or Eleven Arts did with 'The Wonderland'? Why were they (by they I'm referring to 4°C assuming it was their end's decision rather than Gkids,) so dead set on a theatrical run even after March?

Because people can record it before release and they want to avoid piracy of the dub before it's out.

Also people aren't understanding the complexities of why this screening was scheduled.

Part of licensing agreements usually involve a theatrical screening to maximize revenue and also promote the film and also as criteria for potential award eligibility.

Certainly they were hoping theaters opened up. But one reason for waiting is to put the onus on the theater to cancel, rather than cancel it themselves so that they are not required to pay any recompensation fees for cancellations. The fault is therefore on the theater's end, which is then also on the government's end for forcing them to stay closed, and the theater can then apply for federal recompensation money, that then comes from the taxpayer.

Theaters were hoping to reopen as deaths were down after the season, and widespread testing indicates that many people already had the virus and there are positives of antibodies indicating immunity, but for some reason everything is being redefined as a 'case.'

Some theaters are sueing the government, but we'll see what becomes of that. So everyone is waiting until the last minute to cancel, as depending on how things go if you happen to be conviently scheduled in a slot when things reopen, it's possible you'll do good business if theater goers are eager to go to the movies again, much like how everyone went to the beaches.

Man, I was really looking forward to seeing this in theaters. However, it does look like August would be too early. Unfortunate.

It's been gone from Fathom Event's upcoming anime events page for... I don't even remember how long ago now. Surprised it took them this long to make an official announcement.
