Brad Venable? Didn't he die not too long ago? Or was the Shironeko dub recorded before his death? That's the only plausible explanation I can think of.

yeah, he died in the first week of Jan, so Okratron started working on the dub at some point before that.

It's kind of interesting that the pandemic has led Funimation to not only use multiple studios to dub their backlog but also to dub the "old school" way of dubbing the entire series after it's finished and then releasing the whole thing.

Was not expecting Shironeko to end up being Brad Venable's last role.

I confess that I don't see the appeal in Zeno Robinson as an acting talent I've watched plenty of his performances the impression that he leaves is that he's just another run of the mill dubbing actor really. I have very little interest in these shows but the dubs do interest me to some degree so I'll probably end up checking them out at some point purely for the casting choices. I was wondering if Brad had one last role coming up it looks like he does
so the Shironeko dub will be watched just to experience what looks like to be his final dubbing performance in the dub medium.

The home video release for Sakura Wars is fairly soon despite the dub for it going up in recent weeks, so I have to think that this has been going on in the background for a while. I'm guessing they looked at the number of shows they licensed and decided it would be impossible to use the simuldub model across the board.

The traditional method does make a lot more sense, both in terms of the logistics recording remotely, and the simple fact that they have all the materials.

Outsourcing to other studios is a little more surprising, especially since they've apparently gone outside of other Dallas studios, like Okratron and Sound Cadence, and tapped New Generation in LA. But I suppose it makes sense that it would have been too much to simuldub current shows and go back and dub stuff from the last year while recording remotely if they didn't get some help.
