Considering how they have treated Magic the Gathering in recent times (plus the whole D&D thing), I am not surprised.

Another day , another lay off from a major brand. I am expecting a lot more from the industry in general.

Everything is finally collapsing.

I'm not surprised. They lost the Disney Princess line, as well as "Frozen", to Mattel at the beginning of last year and it's been a downward spiral ever since. Their desperate attempt to more heavily monetize D&D just shows how desperate they are, and the financial backlash to their D&D Beyond subscription has probably put them over a barrel at this point.

There will likely be even more layoffs in the coming months, and possibly the selling of subsidiary companies.

Poor sales of flagship products, losing major licenses, attempts to monetize remaining products facing incredibly fierce backlash, over budget films that need to really do well following delays, and a massive loss on a multimedia division that was sold off save their existing licenses.

It’s been rough, to put it mildly.

The only Subsidiary companies I see them selling is from the entertainment side and they're already selling the parts of eOne they aren't using, just keeping the essential parts they need to produce TV shows and movies. They've already made it clear they plan on getting out of Discovery Family which they have a 40% stake in. Outside of that Wizards and Saban aren't going anywhere, neither are their toy properties and subsidiaries (though they really don't need Funskool, it'd probably be too hard to get out of at this point). So that just leaves staff.

My experience with Hasbro is mostly just a few Transformers figures these days. I'm not sure how much of the dumpster fire Magic the Gathering and D&D is on them versus Wizards of the Coast or how that management works. I will say I've not been too thrilled with the handling of Transformers lately, though.

Yeah, it is just all slowly burning. I'm actually hopeful though. I think this is all we will be getting with inflation.

Honestly, sometimes I wish I had the cash or was owner of some big company. Could put some of these old executives to shame. Hasbro has just made some silly mistakes.

Yeah, that stuff with D&D came off as a desperation move. Companies hope that they can squeeze existing customers for a bit more, but they risk that those customers will leave and not pay anything. This time, Hasbro guessed wrong.
